1999 - This is the first solo album I pieced together after the end of picturesq. I didn't have much more than a 4-track tape deck when I began. So, it's mainly lo-fi folk and a couple of rock tunes.
Most of the tunes were recorded in a small Chicago apartment. Some were recorded at my childhood home in the burbs. The title track was tracked by Cory Stone at his really cool farmhouse/studio in Woodstock IL.
There's one other song I still need to post....once I locate it: "Changing My Style"
2001 - When I was almost finished recording 4 of the 5 tunes, Alex Sandrok joined in the fun with his very tasteful bass lines on 10 Things and Placebo. Matt Stein (picturesq) returned to pound out some solid beats on Placebo. What started as another solo venture suddenly became a new band.
2004 - With Matt (drums) and Alex (bass) in the fold, we began our next project, Spare Change. Joe Mays (guitar) also joined at this point.
2005 - Six tunes about starting over...again, in life and as a band...as we were without a drummer. We continued writing and recording more of the quiet folk guitar tunes in another Chicago apartment. We rehearsed and gigged with a couple drummers and eventually Russ Mehle joined in as our next drummer. He plays on "Leave Lonely".
These songs explored themes of living in a crowded city while feeling very isolated, taking road trips, and ruminating over the past, and imagining the future.
Two songs still to be posted: Elevator + Drive
Coming Soon. This is in the works...5 tunes are complete, 4 more to finish up.
